These instructions will walk you through how to configure 3CX to Voyant Trunking and the Voyant Admin Portal. It will not cover setting up the base PBX or the setup of your PBX/Endpoint trunking. Further setup may require you to contact your PBX vendor support, directly, or utilize your PBX vendor forum/community pages.

Note: This guide assumes the 3CX is already set up and installed, and that the user has administrator account access to both the 3CX and the Voyant Admin Portal.

Known Limitations and Caveats

As of 9/12/2018, SRV implementation of 3CX is not compatible with registration-based Voyant Trunking.  Workaround for this is to enter the Voyant SIP domain in outbound proxy to allow A-Record lookups.


Setting up the Voyant Trunk

After logging into the Voyant Admin Portal navigate to “SIP Trunking” → “Trunks”.

Press the “Add New Trunk” button. On this screen you will configure the details necessary to create and enable the SIP Trunk for use.

Trunk Creation

Enter a friendly name for the SIP Trunk in the “Enter SIP Trunk Name” box as well as a SIP Domain Name for use in registering to this trunk. The SIP Domain Name will create a custom SRV record, which will be used to connect to this trunk while also providing redundancy between Voyant SBCs.

Select the “Create New Endpoint” button to bring up the Endpoint creation wizard.

From here select the option for “Registration” and enter a friendly name for the Endpoint, as well as a username that will be used to register. By default inbound and outbound calling are enabled; however, they can be changed at this time. 

Once done, press the “Add Endpoint” button.

After closing this screen, you are returned to the main SIP Trunk Creation Screen. If you are satisfied with your choices press the “Create SIP Trunk” button at the bottom of the page.

Connecting to the Voyant Trunk

3CX Configuration 

Under SIP Trunks, select “Add SIP Trunk”

For “Select Country”, select “Generic”.

For “Select Provider in your Country”, select “Generic SIP Trunk”.

For “Main Trunk No”, enter your main DID in E.164 format.


On the next page, enter a name for “Enter name for Trunk”

Set the “Registrar/Server/Gateway/Hostname or IP” to your Voyant domain.

Set the “Outbound Proxy” to your Voyant domain.

Set the “Number of SIM Calls” to the number of simultaneous calls you expect to have.


For Authentication, set the “Type of Authentication” to “Register/Account based”

Enter your trunk username for “Authentication ID (aka SIP User ID)”

Enter your trunk password for “Authentication Password” 

For “Route calls to”, enter in routing details.

On the “DIDs” tab, enter in any additional DIDs associated with your trunk, use E.164 format.

On the “Caller ID” tab, you can set your default caller ID, use E.164 format.

Select “OK” to commit changes.

Select “Refresh Registration” and confirm successful registration. 

The route is ready to be used and your 3CX is now configured to use the Voyant Trunking service.
